The sound of the pursuit.
The recordings and creators behind Street Heat’s engine, weapons, and impacts.
Engine recording
“Engine Sound” by kurt is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported.
Adapted for Street Heat by selecting a section of the recording, crossfading it into a loop, and applying playback-rate pitch changes, filtering, gain adjustment, and mixing.
Tire recording
“Car Tire Squeal / Skid Loop” uses a recording by Tom Haigh (audible-edge), with the loop edit by qubodup, licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported.
Adapted for Street Heat by downmixing to mono, resampling, adjusting gain, crossfading the loop, filtering, and varying playback pitch and volume to match tire slip.
Additional sound sources
The following works are provided under CC0 1.0 Universal:
- “Signal Pursuit” — Vitalezzz; optional music, streamed at low level and ducked during action.
- “Police Siren Wailer Static” — conleec; adapted from the published MP3 preview with trimming, downmixing, resampling, and loop crossfading.
- “Helicopter Sounds” — aquinn; selected, downmixed, resampled, and crossfaded for the aircraft layer.
- “Car engine start 01” — looneybits.
- “Muffled Distant Explosion” — NenadSimic.
- “Chunky Explosion” — Joth.
- “Impact Sounds” — Kenney; metal impact recordings.
- “The Free Firearm Sound Library” — Ben Jaszczak, Brian Nelson, Kevin Heras, and Matthew Nanney; AK-47 and AR-15 recordings. Original project and license statement.
Firearm recordings are trimmed around the attack, downmixed, gain-adjusted, and faded. Sound layers also use runtime trimming, pitch variation, positioning, and mixing.
Game sound design
Street Heat combines these recordings with synthesized engine, road, tire, siren, weapon, equipment, and repair-rig layers that respond to play.
